（中央社記者廖漢原華盛頓6日專電）美國前第一夫人南西雷根過逝，掀起美國社會對雷根象徵的黃金年代的懷念，南西在白宮期間是丈夫的忠實戰友，她的建議廣泛影響雷根的外交政策與全球局勢。
無論是川普（Donald Trump）和盧比歐（MarcoRubio），和前候選人羅姆尼（Mitt Romney）與馬侃（John McCain）等，有意進軍白宮的共和黨人都愛提雷根，也希望成為雷根，但誰都無法成為雷根。
雷根扭轉上世紀70年代越戰後美國社會的悲觀主義，主導國際局勢，讓美國重新成為強權。柏林圍牆倒下，共產陣營崩解，奠定當今全球化局勢，雷根的性格與決心，如今難在美國領袖身上見到，前第一夫人南西（Nancy Reagan）在幕後扮演重要角色。
好萊塢演員出身的南西，嫁給雷根後，放棄大銀幕，專心支持丈夫的政治事業，南西將好萊塢習性帶進保守的白宮，積極向政治與社會伸出觸角，接觸兩黨人物，雷根被稱為「偉大的溝通者」，背後有個更善於溝通的妻子。
南西在白宮的角色毀譽參半，她對雷根的決定有重大影響力。
南西認為雷根在軍售伊朗援助尼加拉瓜游擊隊機密曝光後，應正面回應；她也建議雷根應與前蘇聯領導人戈巴契夫接觸，建立私人關係，這些在當時都飽富爭議，但南西協助丈夫度過陰霾連任，甚至推倒東歐共產集團政權。
更重要的是，南西積極捍衛丈夫的總統職務。
研究白宮的歷史學者布林克里（Douglas Blinkley）表示，南西決定誰可以信任，或不信任，誰對雷根有不利影響，都過不了她這關，不過她相當友善，對冷戰後期的美國外交政策與人員運用有重大影響。
前有線電視新聞網（CNN）主持人賴瑞金（LarryKing）說，南西總是笑容滿面，開朗自信，喜好和人接觸，適切扮演第一夫人的角色。
